Jesus Exchanged Riches For Rags.

I heard this phrase in a message recently, where the preacher said,

“Jesus exchanged His riches for your rags, so in return you can exchange your rags for His riches.”

Jesus came to this earth to die on the cross for us. He left His riches in
Heaven and came to put on our rags, sin. “Why?” So we could put our trust and faith in Him, so we can dwell with Him in Heaven some day. He took all of our “rags”/sins—past, present and future—because He loves us. Second Corinthians 8:9 says, “For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.”

Jesus died and rose again so we could receive His free gift of Salvation. May I encourage you today to humbly ask Jesus for that free gift of Salvation if you haven’t already. If you have accepted Him as your Savior, then I urge you to stop whatever you are doing and thank and rejoice in Him for the gift He so freely gave us and we are so unworthy to deserve.

This song, called “The Beauty of the Blood,” says it perfectly. In the second verse it says,

“What a thought
Just a single drop forever wipes away our every stain,
And with Its power every chain that held us down lies at our feet and we stand free!”

I hope the message of this song is encouraging to you this holiday season.
