This past week my parents and I were at Silver Dollar City. My dad and I had been on a few roller coasters that morning, but when we got off this particular roller coaster there was a kind-looking gentleman just staring at me as I sat in my wheelchair drinking water. We all noticed that he was curious. So after I finished taking a drink, my mom gave him one of my tracts and said, “Hello there, I noticed you’re probably wondering what happened, and this is a tract she wrote herself. I hope it will be a blessing.” And he said, “Thank you, I noticed something was different about her countenance.”
Having people stare at me is nothing new. When I was younger, it would bother me more. But now I just look at it as a good way to share my testimony with others. No matter where I go, I know someone will notice my smile or that I walk differently and I’m not like everyone else. It’s life.
In 2016, I began noticing more and more people kept saying, “You have a beautiful smile.” I had just had brain surgery and I was very insecure about having scars on my head and chest. I think most people noticed me smiling because of that. Who knows?
In October of 2016, I heard a message at my church from a missionary from India. He preached on being willing to use your resources to witness to others. This wasn’t anything new to me, but God used that message in my life to show me that He wants to use me. I just need to be willing and obey Him. I remember every January since 2011 writing some goals for the year, and every year one goal was to write a tract. Year after year I would put it off. But when I heard this message, I knew I needed to write a personal tract. In 2016 I wrote this prayer,
Dear Jesus,
Thank you for blessing my blog. I give you all the Glory. You have exceeded my expectations. Help me as I write my tract and that it would help people in Stillwater to come to know You.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Little did I know that 3 years later my personal tract entitled, “I Can Smile Because…” would be passed out in the Stillwater jail.
I’ll never know how many lives have been changed just by reading my tract or blog. I’m thankful God wants to use my testimony, and I honestly couldn’t live day after day without Him. He has been so good to me, especially when I don’t always understand what exactly is going on in my life— that’s when I’m the closest to Him.The same God that helps me in my darkest hours will help you, my friend.
I heard a song this past week called, “Same God.” It talks about God being the same in the good times and bad times. I love this phrase in the chorus, “The constant in every change, you’re the same God.” The seasons of your life will change whether you want it to or not, but aren’t you glad God is the same yesterday, today and forever! I know sure am! I hope this song will be a blessing
Thanks so much for this!! I’ve never heard the song and I’m so glad you shared it. I love hearing how the Lord uses you to reach total strangers…even in Branson. ❤️Love and appreciate you and your precious blog!!!!!🥰
