Well we are fourteen days into the new year, and as I look back at the past year of 2013 I can see a merciful God guiding me each day. Sunday night my pastor asked these questions during his message. What was your hardest time in 2013? What was the most heartbreaking circumstance in 2013? What was the most disappointing circumstance in 2013?
He preached out of Lamentations chapter 3 verses 22-23 which say,”It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”
As I thought about those questions he asked, I got emotional inside. Because I can and do remember my loneliest time and depressing time along with disappointing time in 2013. Guess what God was there during those trials and circumstances in my life with His new mercies new every morning. Even when I didn’t want to get out of bed, He would remind me that at least I can get out of bed in the morning and have some independence.
Although there were hard times in 2013, I’m so thankful that God was and is faithful In my life, even when I am unfaithful. I don’t know what circumstances you have faced this past year. Remember you didn’t go through it alone, although it might have felt like you did, God was with you. As we look forward to 2014 what great and wonderful plans does God have in store for you? How will He grow your faith in Him?
I love the hymn, “Great is Thy Faithfulness” I hope as you read the words it will bless you.
“Great is Thy faithfulness”
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” O God my Father,
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not
As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
“Great is Thy faithfulness!” “Great is Thy faithfulness!“
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided—
“Great is Thy faithfulness,” Lord, unto me!
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!
Praise The Lord for the faithfulness of God!! I am so thankful for a daughter that has not only experienced it but acknowledges it!
