Fanny Crosby is one of my favorite hymn writers. Crosby was a blind hymn writer and wrote over 8,000 hymns and gospel songs. Some of Crosby’s best-known songs include “Blessed Assurance”, “Pass Me Not, O Gentle Saviour”, “Jesus Is Tenderly Calling You Home”, “Praise Him, Praise Him”, “Rescue the Perishing”, and “To God Be the Glory”
The hymn “Blessed Assurance” is a very encouraging hymn to me because I know I’ll get to go to Heaven. I am so thankful I can sing in my head the chorus. “This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.”
I also love the third verse. “Perfect submission, all is at rest!
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.”
Can you say this is your story? I hope this hymn is a blessing to you.
Blessed Assurance
By Fanny Crosby
vs.1
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.
Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long;
this is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
vs.2
Perfect submission, perfect delight!
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.
vs.3
Perfect submission, all is at rest!
I in my Savior am happy and blest,
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.
