If This Is What God Wants

Our pastor was preaching in John 9:1-3 about a month ago. These verses say,

“And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him”

I remembered when I was young reading verse three and thinking I did nothing wrong to get Dystonia. You see I had always thought why did God allow this disease in my life I thought I had done something to deserve this disease. I think many people think that way when God brings a difficult circumstance their way. Anyways when I read that verse as a 13 year old what joy it brought me to know that God has a wonderful plan for me. God allowed this in my life so I could grow in my faith and depend on Him through every trial I would go through. Now I didn’t understand that when I was three. Sometimes He has to still remind me to depend on Him, even when I don’t understand why.

I honestly wish I could be healed like Jesus went on and healed the blind man in Matthew chapter 9. I thought if I prayed hard enough God would heal me. But it wasn’t God’s plan for me. Although I wish I could talk and do all these wonderful things I want to do. I have to remember that this is the life God has chosen for me. This song called, “If This Is What God Says” says it so perfectly. The chorus goes like this,

“If this is what God wants,
If this is what God says,
Then who am I to try to figure it out this circumstance,
If this is what God choose for me in all His majesty,
Then surely I can trust and lean on what God says!’

May I encourage you to trust and lean on what God says.
