I have listened to this song called “The Climb” many times over the past week. It has been a blessing to me i was reading a review on the song online. It talked about the message of the song. It explains the song very well. It said,
“Life isn’t always about the valleys or the mountains, is it? Most of the time, the journey from one to the other is the most important part of our spiritual growth, that’s what this song is about – the climb. The opening verse talks about the valley’s, and how we don’t always remember what they were about, though they were many. It’s the same way with the victories. Yet, the prominent thing a Believer remembers in his passage on this earth is his day to day climb with the Lord Jesus. The chorus talks about the satisfaction in knowing that Christ is walking with you every moment ~ He’s all you need. Centering it’s theme on Christ and not the things that we face, makes this line all the more sweet – “I may forget about the valleys, might not recall the mountains, but I will remember the climb.” The second verse continues musing over the journey from the valley to the mountain. Not point A or point B, but the distance between can even give comfort when you walk beside a Friend like Jesus. With His mercy and endless grace – what blessings we would miss if we didn’t travel with Him!”
My favorite part of the song is the chorus which says
“I remember when I looked around what peace I found in seeing Jesus walking up the jagged slope with me.
I remember how He took my hand and said someday you’ll understand,
But until then I’m all you’ll ever need
He’s the strength for every journey and the joy that lights my way
The longer that I live the more I find. I may forget about the valleys
May not recall the mountains,
But I will remember the climb.”
What a comforting thought to know that God is our strength for every journey we go through rather it’s small or big. This song also reminded me that I don’t climb through life’s circumstances alone. Jesus is there beside me every step of the way. Guiding me with His mercy and grace.
I can’t imagine what jagged slope you’re facing. May I encourage you that Jesus is right beside you strengthening you all the way.
Philippians 4:13 says, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” I hope this song is a blessing to you.
