When we sing hymns at my church about heaven or about getting saved, I hum along. I find I get more out of the song service when I hum than when I’m just listening to the words. Just like many of you, I have sung many of those hymns all my life. But, you know, even though I can’t physically sing, they’ll always be something I cherish, and I’m thankful for that.
These last couple of months have been hard, not knowing what’s going to happen in the near future. I have found myself clinging to hymns like “Day by Day,” “Does Jesus Care?” and “When We See Christ” (notice especially how the chorus starts with the words: “It will be worth it all when we see Jesus”). I’m contstantly reminded that God has blessed me beyond measure to be in the family and church family I am in. I don’t know what the future holds, but I HAVE to keep remembering God holds my future and He will show me what to do in His time.
I don’t know what you’re going through right now. May I encourage you to take a moment and read the words to “When We See Christ.” I hope it will give you strength to know “it will be worth it all” as you go throughout your day.
When We See Christ
(It Will Be Worth It All)
1 Ofttimes the day seems long,
Our trials hard to bear.
We´re tempted to complain,
to murmur and despair.
But Christ will soon appear
to catch His bride away!
All tears forever over
in God’s eternal day!
2. At times the sky seems dark,
with not a ray of light;
We’re tossed and driven on,
no human help in sight.
But there is One in heaven,
Who knows our deepest care;
Let Jesus solve your problems,
just go to Him in prayer.
3. Life’s day will soon be o’er,
all storms forever past;
We’ll cross the great divide
to Glory, safe at last!
We’ll share the joys of heaven:
a harp, a home, a crown;
The tempter will be banished,
We’ll lay our burdens down.
CHORUS:
It will be worth it all
when we see Jesus!
Life’s trials will seem so small
when we see Christ.
One glimpse of His dear face,
all sorrow will erase.
So, bravely run the race
till we see Christ.
