The Power Of The Lord!

The way I would like to portray Dystonia is that it seems like I’m trapped in a prison cell and that prison cell is my body. Now I don’t want you feel sorry for me. No, because I’m a prisoner of Hope! God has been so good to me through this trial in life. I honestly do believe He has a purpose and He allowed this handicap in my life so He can get the glory and honor.

When I think about being trapped inside a prison cell, I think about Paul and Silas. They sang in prison! And it wasn’t, “Woe is me; I’m suffering for the Lord.” They were probably singing Jesus Saves! I don’t know what they were singing, but they were singing to the Lord through their trial. Paul went through adversity, didn’t he? He was beaten, whipped, put in prison, and shipwrecked. After all that, God allowed him to have a thorn in the flesh. We don’t know what it was, but we do know that he prayed to God three times to take it away. And God told him, “My Grace is sufficient for thee.” I love how Paul responds in Second Corinthians 12:10. He could have said, “Therefore I gave up!” But, no—instead, he said,

“Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then I am strong.”

When I look at my life and all that I’ve been through, God has shown me that I can have pleasure in infirmities. Obviously, I have never been through anything like Paul has. Not one of us has.

Another verse that I’d like to share with you is First Corinthians 15:10. The first part says, “But by the grace of God I am what I am.” I have come to the point that I now can say, “By the Grace of God I am what I am.” It took me a long time to finally accept this handicap and realize that He has a plan for my life. At the end of that verse it says, “Yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” Were it not for God’s grace, I would be lost! I thank God that He saved me 15 years ago at a kids’ crusade. I haven’t been the same since He came into my life.

If you read my blog much, you know I love music, and not just any ol’ music—I love Southern Gospel music! Why do I like It so much, you ask? Because it encourages me to keep on living day to day.

This song called, “I Have Seen The Power” has become one of my favorite songs in the last few months. Have you ever been in the darkest valley in life, where you think, God has forgotten all about you. Then God shows up in a powerful way.

For example, Paul and Silas didn’t know how they would get out of prison or how long they would be there. At midnight they prayed and sang praises unto God. God sent an earthquake. But Paul and Silas didn’t run away. They stayed and because they stayed, they witnessed to the jail keeper and he got saved! Along with his whole household! May I encourage you to read Acts chapter 16. This is just one of the wonderful true stories, along with countless others in the Bible, where we see the power of the Lord.

I’m just like you. I love watching sports, going shopping, drinking coffee, but most importantly I love God. I honestly can’t live day by day without the Lord. When I’m weak, He is strong. When no one understands what I’m going through, I can talk to Him. He’s everything I’ll ever need and so much more.

Like many in the Bible, I also have seen the power of the Lord. I can show you countless times where God has shown His Mercy and Power on my life. Not only did He save me, but He also has given me an unexplainable peace and joy through this adversity I face daily. I have made it through two major surgeries in my life. God is so good!

What is your trial?

Your pressure?

Your stress?

What is it you don’t understand?

What’s your worry?

What’s your fear?

Do you feel powerless, unable, discouraged?

There is only one person who has all the answers to your life’s problems. He is an Almighty, Powerful, Just God. He is Able to provide what You need when you need it. He’s an ever-faithful, comforting God. Know this: God, His Word, His wonderful promises, they will never change! No matter what stage of life you are in, He will give you the strength you need to go through whatever adversity you may face.

I hope when you read the words to this song, you can reflect back on how God’s mercy and power has been evident in your life.

I Have Seen The Power
Verse 1

🎶I’ve been like Moses as he watched the sea divide,

And Joshua at the walls of Jericho,

Like David when Goliath fell,

And Daniel when he lived to tell,

I will rise to testify because I know!

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

In the hearts He’s redeemed and the lives He’s restored,

I’ve seen the power of the Lord!
Verse 2

I’ve known His mercy,

How He always keeps His Word,

And there’s nothing too hard for Him to do,

In the darkest times when hope is dead,

My faith looks up and I cling to Him,

Again I rise to testify, He’s faithful and true…faithful and true!!

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

In the hearts He’s redeemed and the lives He’s restored,

I’ve seen the power of the Lord! (I have known Salvation the day He set this sinner free,

I have witnessed resurrection and its life alive in me!)

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

I’ve seen the power of the Lord,

In the hearts He’s redeemed and the lives He’s restored,

I’ve seen the power,

I’ve felt His Power!

I’ve seen the power of the Lord!
