Evidence of God’s Great Grace

In 2 weeks I’ll be celebrating and praising the Lord on Memorial Day because on that day God changed my life physically. That day marks 20 challenging years living with Dystonia (the disease I have). As I was reflecting back on the years, I was reminded of a day 16 years ago when God changed my life spiritually. I’m so thankful when Jesus said “Whosoever” He included me and saved my soul! Living with Dystonia can be hard at times. But with God by my side He makes it easier to live day by day, knowing He’ll never leave me. I am thankful for God’s great grace He supplies each day.

For those who are unfamiliar with the disease Dystonia, it is a movement disorder that causes the muscles to contract and spasm involuntarily. The neurological mechanism that makes muscles relax when they are not in use does not function properly. Opposing muscles often contract simultaneously as if they are ‘competing’ for control of a body part. The involuntary muscle contractions force the body into repetitive and often twisting movements as well as awkward, irregular postures.

At the age of three, I got Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, which was misdiagnosed and unfortunately caused brain damage. The doctors said I would be 100% in a year, but they were wrong. My whole family’s lives were turned upside down when they learned I would never talk with my mouth again or live a “normal” life like many of my friends.

I claim Psalm 77:10-12 to be my life verses.

Psalm 77:10-12 states,

“And I said, This is my infirmity: but I will remember the years of the right hand of the most High.

I will remember the works of the Lord: surely I will remember thy wonders of old.

I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings.”

Each day I wake up I’m reminded that I have Dystonia. Sometimes I’d like to sleep all day because when I’m asleep my muscles are relaxed. The instant I scoot out of bed I see Jeremiah 29:11, which states,

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Each day I must strive to live moment by moment in contentment, knowing the Lord has a purpose for me today. As I look ahead it’s my desire that Dystonia doesn’t define me, but that God will refine my life. Whether it be through my art, writing on my blog, or texting my friends, may the Lord get the glory in everything I do.

How has God’s Great Grace worked in your life?

Have you forgotten how many blessings surround you each day?

May I encourage you to thank God not only for the mountainous things going on your life but also for the inconvenient bump in your life?

Remember this, the Lord loves and cares for you no matter what you have done in your life.

Last year when I first heard the song, God’s Great, I couldn’t wait to share it on my blog. This song reminds me of the day I got saved and how I have been changed by Gods amazing grace. The second verse is my favorite because it reminds me how blessed I am to have a song in my heart daily. I hope this song will be a blessing to you.

God’s Great

Verse 1

Looking back over my life,

God’s good, so good.

And it’s a fact sometimes I took the wrong track,

But God’s good, so good.

And when I look at where I’ve been

And what He’s brought me through,

All I can say is God’s been so good,

But on second thought, God’s been great.
Chorus

How great, how great, how great is God’s amazing grace.

Amazing grace, the grace that sought me

Great, the blood that bought me, how great!

How long, how long, how long are His arms of mercy.

Reached way down to the bottom,

Picked me up, no problem

Ain’t God good?

No, God’s great.
Verse 2

I’m moving on, and I’ve got a new song

Cause God’s good, so good.

And when I’m faced with trials in my way,

God’s good, so good.

And when I’m questioned about this smile on my face,

I must reply.

All I can say is God’s been so good,

But on second thought, God’s been great.
Chorus

How great, how great, how great is God’s amazing grace.

Amazing grace, the grace that sought me

Great, the blood that bought me, how great!

How long, how long, how long are His arms of mercy.

Reached way down to the bottom,

Picked me up, no problem

Ain’t God good?

No God’s great!

As your favorite preacher 😉 I’m thankful to the Lord for using you in a very special way! In fact I don’t think we have seen the whole reason yet?? Keep up the FAITH & hold His Banner high!
