It’s no secret we all face trials every day. Some trials may last for a short season, while others may last a lifetime. Among those trials we must trust in the Lord and remember He knows what is best. While it may be incredibly hard to just get out of bed and put a smile on, let me assure you He will bestow His grace and strength on you each day. 

In the book, Uninvited: Living Loved When You Feel Less Than, Left Out, and Lonely, Lysa TerKeurst says,

“Jesus doesn’t participate in the rat race. He’s into the slower rhythms of life, like abiding, delighting, dwelling—all words that require us to trust Him with our place and our pace.” 

When I read this quote I asked myself, “Am I truly trusting God with the slower rhythms of life?” To be honest, I’m probably not doing my best in those areas. Do I trust  the pace He’s allowing me to go through right now? Yes. But it’s a constant struggle to live in a body with a mind of its own. Yes, there are days I wish could speed up the pace of life because I’m just tired of going at a snail’s pace. 

 I definitely wouldn’t be at this place of unexplainable peace if I were on my own.  I am constantly learning to trust in His promises and wait patiently for what lies ahead in this journey. 

Psalm 18:2 “The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.”

So what are you facing right now that you don’t think can handle? 

Are you truly trusting God with the slower rhythms of life?

Are you content in the place you are going through?

As you ponder these questions, may I encourage you with these verses from 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, 

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

and 2 Corinthians 5:1,

“For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.”

 

One day our trials will be over, and we will understand life’s questions, praise the Lord! But until then let us continue to press toward the mark and cling to His unchanging promises as we faithfully serve Him.
