If Christ Had Not Been Born
What would the world be like today
If Jesus had not come to earth?
If there had not been a manger
With a miracle virgin birth?
No sacrifice would have been made
To atone for the sins of man;
No one would know of God’s great love,
There would be no redemption plan.
No spiritual fruit would be seen,
No written Word within the heart;
All the world would be in darkness…
There would be no Light to impart.
There would have been no apostles,
And Paul’s name would still have been Saul,
No New Testament books written,
And no abundant life at all.
For there would be no Redeemer
To change men’s lives and make them whole,
And there would be no green pastures
To satisfy the hungry soul.
There would be no loving Shepherd
To protect, comfort and to guide,
There would be no Holy Spirit…
Filling the heart, living inside.
The Psalmist of so long ago
Knew Him in a special way,
For the saints of old all believed
That Jesus would be born one day.
He was right there in ages past…
The same Good Shepherd, Lord, and King –
The promised Messiah, yet to come –
The hope to which the saints did cling.
Hallelujah! God sent His Son…
The fulfillment of His great plan;
My friend, If Christ Had Not Been Born…
There would be no hope for man.

“The Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of his children Israel.”
Joel 3:16b
“Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Colossians 1:27b
Isn’t this poem so true? If Jesus hadn’t been born, we would be most miserable. We would be lost without a Savior. There would be no reason to celebrate Christmas unless Christ, the eternal gift, was born.
The Christmas story should never become “old hat.” We should read it in awe and amazement that Jesus would leave Heaven and come into this world wrapped in flesh as a baby.
Matthew 1:21 says, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins”
That’s why Jesus ultimately came—to save us from our sins, so in return we could have a personal relationship with Him.
Matthew 1:23 says, “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Aren’t you thankful God is with us, especially in the world we live in today? I believe He has shown His Mercy on America this year. Not trying to get political, but some things could have changed if a certain candidate had become president. I’m not claiming I know what’s going to happen in the future of America. I am thankful, though, that I know God will be with us in the years to come, and He has our future under control.
Are you going through the motions of Christmas? I can lose sight of the reason for the season. I get all caught up in the Christmas shopping and worrying about whether people will like their presents. I love giving presents to people who aren’t expecting them!
Have you forgotten the reason for the season? If so, I’d like to encourage you to read the Christmas story with a fresh perspective on why Jesus came.
I hope this song called “You Are With Me” will be a blessing to you.
Verse 1
Lord, I’m always in your presence I cannot run from your love,
You’re behind me, before me, underneath, and up above,
The darkness and the light are both the same to you,
I couldn’t hide from your spirit even if I wanted to,
Chorus
My Emmanuel, You are with me,
Oh Emmanuel, there’s nowhere you won’t be,
If I take the wings of the morning or fall into the deepest sea,
Even there, even there,
You are with me.
Verse 2
If I ascend up to Heaven or make my bed below,
I know your hand will hold me wherever I may go,
Before I was born you already knew my days,
Lord, I have no secrets; You know every path I take.
Chorus
My Emmanuel, You are with me,
Oh Emmanuel, there’s nowhere you won’t be,
If I take the wings of the morning or fall into the deepest sea,
Even there, even there,
You are with me.
(How precious are your thoughts,
Oh, God, they’re always of me,
More than the number of the sand,
Oh, how great Your love must be)
My Emmanuel, You are with me,
Oh Emmanuel, there’s nowhere you won’t be,
If I take the wings of the morning or fall into the deepest sea,
Even there, even there,
You are with me.
You are with me!
